Integrated Medicine

It is important that you have an understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). There are two major components of TCM used at TBAC:
  • Acupuncture
  • Chinese Materia Medica (use of natural products such as herbals)

The most common therapeutic treatments combine acupuncture and specific herbals. There is an excellent summary on acupuncture published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You should also review the information published by the NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. The Florida Department of Health's division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) regulates all health care practitioners in Florida. You can visit their website at Florida Health Source.

Integrated medicine starts with a solid foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM offers very real results on its own but when that knowledge is combined with an in-depth knowledge of Western Medicine, the benefits to the patient are greatly enhanced.

Dr. Zhang's model in medicine is: Mind, Body and Spirit. She strongly believes that the balance of the three is the key to health. She blends the practice of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition and western medicine into her daily work which has proved to be a very effective approach to healing. As a patient of Tampa Bay Acupuncture Clinic, your treatment plan implements the most appropriate therapies from both eastern and western medicine tailored to your specific needs.
