Dr. Xiao Zhang, MD, AP

Tampa Bay Acupuncture Clinic, established by Dr. Xiao Zhang, M.D., A.P., in February of 1994, has earned an excellent reputation and respect in the community by providing integrative medical care to the public in the Tampa Bay area.

Dr. Zhang's model in medicine is: Mind, Body and Spirit. She strongly believes that the balance of the three is the key to health. She blends the practice of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition and western medicine into her daily work which has proven to be a very effective approach to healing.

Dr. Xiao Zhang is a Florida State Licensed Medical Doctor, Florida State licensed Acupuncturist and National Acupuncture Board Certified Acupuncture Physician. She graduated in 1982 with an M.D. degree from Shandong Medical College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, where she then held the position of assistant professor until 1990, when she came to the United States.

On March 16, 2017, Tampa Bay Times reporter Irene Maher did a story "Treatments vary for painful plantar fasciitis, but rest is the best" where Dr Zhang was interviewed on the benefits of acupuncture for this painful condition.
On September 15, 2010, 10-News anchor Heather Van Nest interviewed Dr. Zhang about how acupuncture can help with all aspects of a healthy pregnancy as part of her series “Heather’s Baby Week”.
Heather recapped her personal experience with acupuncture in the March, 2011 issue of Tampa Bay Wellness which included treatments by Dr. Zhang to help stimulate labor when she was 8 days past her estimated delivery date.
On March 11, 2011, Heather sites a recent Turkish study published in the journal Acupuncture In Medicine that suggests acupuncture may reduce menopause symptoms.
On March 24, 2009, the article "Getting To The Point On Pain Control" was published in the St. Petersburg Times.
On July 30, 2008, The Tampa Tribune featured Dr. Zhang and Tampa Bay Acupuncture in the article "Making Her Remedies Stick" written by correspondent Elaine Markowitz.

Dr. Zhang has published several articles and papers, and has co-authored a textbook on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in China. The "Acupuncture Points Flash Cards" system, which she co-authored with Barbara Squires, is used in Acupuncture Schools throughout the United States.

Dr. Zhang has been a guest speaker at University of Tampa, Hillsborough Community College, as well as the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, and the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida.
